The first step in this herbal salve recipe is to make the Infused Herbal Oil. This is easy to do, but the steeping time is two to three weeks, so you’ll want to plan ahead.

Infused Herbal Oil

• 1 part dried herbs
• 1 part almond oil

1. Pack a wide-mouthed jar with the herbs and completely cover them with the oil. Put the lid on the jar and shake.
2. Let the mixture steep for 2 to 3 weeks, stirring daily. Strain the oil into a bottle with a lid and discard the herbal material. Label and refrigerate.

Salve

• ¾ ounce beeswax
• ½ cup infused herbal oil

1. Grate the beeswax. In a saucepan, heat the infused oil to about 100°F. Add the grated beeswax and stir as it melts.
2. Remove the mixture from the heat and let cool slightly. Pour into half-ounce jars with wide mouths, secure the lids, and label.
