• 1 tablespoon aniseed
• 2 cups water
• 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
• 1 1/2 cups brown sugar

1. Simmer the seeds in water for 15 to 20 minutes; strain the liquid into another saucepan.
2. Stir in the sugar. Boil to the hard crack stage (290 to 300 degrees), then pour into an oiled shallow pan.
3. Mark into squares; break apart when hard, and wrap each piece in waxed paper.
