You’ll find everything you need for this appealing blend at the grocery store or on your spice shelf, except for the essential oils. Even if you omit them, you’ll have a fragrant mixture whose scent holds up well after several refills of water.

This aromatic potpourri makes a great herbal holiday gift....
• 1 cup 1-inch cinnamon sticks
• 1 cup whole allspice
• 2 cups star anise
• 1 cup coriander seed
• 2 cups dried orange peel
• 1/2 cup cloves
• 1/2 cup crushed nutmegs
• 10 drops cinnamon oil
• 10 drops allspice oil
• 20 drops sweet orange oil
Layer ingredients in a gallon jar. Add the oils to their corresponding ingredients as you go. Shake well and let age at least one day before using. Makes about 2 quarts.
